Anyone who watched Disney Pixar’s “Up” surely got hit in the feels by the storyline. What if we told you Seattle had its very own version? Edith Macefield refused to sell her modest, 1000-square-foot Ballard home to developers, even after they offered her $1 million for it in 2008, so they built the Ballard Blocks retail/office building around it. Disney even tied balloons to Macefield’s home to promote their movie. Since she passed, the ownership has changed hands a couple of times, and now the house is scheduled to go to foreclosure auction on March 13. There’s a possibility that the owner of Ballard Blocks will buy it and complete the original building plan; however, we’re not-so-secretly hoping that Edith’s “Up” home will be restored to its formal glory.
