Tomorrow is the first day of April, which puts us that much closer to summer break. And what says summer more than kids out riding their bikes? That’s why this is a great time to get your kids properly fitted for a bike helmet. Kohl’s Helmet Safety Program and Seattle Children’s are teaming up to get more kids and teens properly fitted helmets.
Between now and September, you can find them all over the state, giving away free bike helmets to children ages 1-18. There is a limit to one helmet per child and the wearers must be present and be fitted to receive a helmet. You won’t need an appointment, but since quantities are limited, it is first-come first-serve. They will also show you how to fit a helmet wherever you may be in the community, on a trip, or at home.
If you can’t make it to one of the Helmet Safety Program events, here are some tips on the Seattle Children’s website about how to properly fit your child for a bike helmet: http://www.seattlechildrens.org/classes-community/community-programs/kohls-helmet-safety/
