We’re really excited to hear that Tesla Motors is expanding their horizons. Word on the street is that they’re gradually moving from just making automobiles to focusing on batteries, including ones that power homes. This is good news because while we love the idea of being able to rely entirely on solar-power to run our homes, we know it’s not realistic since it’s dependent upon the sun always shining (we live in Seattle after all). So, we’re forced to remain reliant upon the grid. That could change when Tesla starts making the same lithium-ion battery technology that powers its super-sleek cars available to homeowners.
What does this mean for us real estate junkies? Inman News says, “Undeveloped land that would once have been cost-prohibitive to build on because of the expense of bringing utilities on-site could suddenly be more attractive — assuming permits are obtainable, and that perc test comes back with a passing grade.” Dear Elon Musk (CEO of Tesla), if we didn’t already have a crush on you, we definitely do now.
