Community Service Day 2015

If you tried to call or stop by a Windermere office last Friday, you likely noticed that we were closed for business. That’s because all 7,000 of our agents were volunteering for our annual Community Service Day. For the past 31 years, our agents have taken one-day-a-year off to dig into hands-on community service projects, such as cleaning, landscaping, and painting at local senior citizens centers, facilities for homeless children and adults, public parks, schools, low income housing, emergency shelters, and more.

Here’s what some of our Seattle offices did last Friday to help better the community:

Sand Point

A client’s family is going through a tough time, so our Sand Point office decided this is where they would spend the day. They put in 2,000+ square feet of sod, painted the exterior shed, weeded the gardens, landscaped the yard, put in a French drain, and gave the yard a general clean up.

Wedgwood

Working with Nest Seattle for the second year-in-a-row, the Wedgwood office went to many different homes near their office to do a variety of work. For example, the group in the photo above helped out an elderly couple who needed help trimming back their hedges from the creek that runs through their property.

Ballard

This office did basic grounds maintenance at St Luke’s Episcopal Church in Ballard, which has an outreach program that helps homeless people with food and shelter. The scope of their work involved edging the lawns, weeding and the removal of unwanted items on their 34,800 square-foot campus. They also did some minor repair and maintenance of the buildings.

Eastlake

For the second year-in-a-row this office partnered with the non-profit organization Rebuilding Together Seattle to fix up a single mother of three’s home.  The Windermere team not only funded the project, but did the labor too, which included landscaping, replacing carpet, replacing windows, re-painting the exterior, and rebuilding the fence and decks.

Madison Park

Our Madison Park office spent the day doing some much needed weeding and mulching of the Rhododendron Glen within the 230-acre Washington Park Arboretum.
