Windermere Real Estate has always valued giving back to the community above all else. That’s why every time a Windermere agent helps someone buy or sell a home, a portion of their commission is donated to the Windermere Foundation. The Seattle-based Windermere Real Estate Company group of offices funds enhanced programs for children from low-income families in elementary, middle, and high schools.
Our recent grant recipients:
$2,500 to Pacific Marine Research – PMR supports 14 school districts, 70 schools, and 4,500 youth and adults annually. They accomplish their mission to educate kids through the Marine Science Afloat Program which is a unique, experiential science based education experience aboard a ship on Puget Sound. They no longer have access to the boat they used to use, so the price per child has gone up. This money is for the schools with the highest percentage of homeless kids, and kids on free or reduced lunch.
$5,000 to Associated Recreation Council – Will be used solely in support of the Rock the Park Summer Day Camps to benefit formerly homeless children, aged 5-17, living in low-income and transitional housing in Magnuson Park. The no-fee camps run four days a week, for eight weeks, and offers life lessons and benefits that are changing lives and strengthening the community.
$3,225 to Friends of Salmon Bay – This is a parent-teacher organization for Salmon Bay School, a K-8 public school in Ballard. Ten percent of the school qualifies for free or reduced lunch. There is a larger population that doesn’t qualify but still find the expense of the Elementary Enrichment & Camp Program unmanageable. This will help over 15 kids get scholarships for the Enrichment Camp fees.
These kids all go to school in the neighborhoods of the offices that funded the requests. $10,725 can go a long way, touching many kids throughout our city. We couldn’t do this without our generous agents and community members that are always eager to lend a helping hand.
