Why We Love Living in Seattle: Fall Into the Seattle Holiday Season

Seattle Holiday Season

The summer festival season is over but there are still plenty of fun things to do in Seattle before the holiday season starts and leading into the magic of the season. We’ve compiled a list of ideas from classic Seattle traditions to some new and exciting additions.

BEST OF THE NORTHWEST ART AND FINE CRAFT SHOW, FALL 2018

Northwest Art Alliance presents its 30th annual FALL show!  Held in Hangar 30 at Seattle’s Magnuson Park.  This fall event will feature more than 115 of the area’s best artists and artisans.

THE HIP HOP NUTCRACKER

The Hip Hop Nutcracker re-imagines Tchaikovsky’s classic score through explosive hip hop choreography. This evening-length show celebrates love, community and the magic of the holiday season.

PACIFIC NW BALLET: THE NUTCRACKER

PNB’S best-selling holiday classic is a fantastical combination of Ian Falconer’s unique design, Tchaikovsky’s beloved score, and the entire Company in show-stopping roles. A memory making tradition for generations of families and friends, Nutcracker fun includes McCaw Hall gloriously decked-out for the season’s best photo ops.

GOBBLE UP | Urban Craft Uprising’s Premier Seattle Food Show

Come discover the best craft food makers in the Pacific Northwest. This specialty food festival will be geared to both everyday customers, as well as to restaurants, chefs, and other professionals in the industry.

SEATTLE FESTIVAL OF TREES

Since 1978, the Seattle Festival of Trees has presented a series of events to benefit Seattle Children’s Hospital annually at the Fairmont Olympic Hotel in downtown Seattle. Join us to raise funds for the Autism Center and uncompensated care at Seattle Children’s.

THE GREEN LAKE GOBBLE & MASHED POTATO MUNCH OFF

Taking place at Green Lake Park on the Sunday before Thanksgiving, the event consists of a 10K run/walk, a 5K run/walk, a kids dash and a post-race celebration that includes the crowd pleasing Mashed Potato Munch Off competitive eating contest and an onsite beer garden. The event supports Seattle’s Union Gospel Mission through a cash donation as well as the well-needed onsite canned food drive.

JULEFEST

Visitors from near and far are invited to gather at the Museum to enjoy Nordic treats, have a Juletide cocktail in the Valhalla Beer Garden, shop for gifts made by local artisans, listen to Nordic music, see the Norwegian sleigh we recently added to our collection, and, as always, meet Santa!

SEATTLE TURKEY TROT

The Seattle Turkey Trot was created in 2007 by 3 Seattle Ballardites who wanted to run on Thanksgiving morning to counteract the large quantities of food that would be consumed later in the day. Since then the Ballard Food Bank has been instrumental in organizing and handling the yearly run, and all proceeds raised go directly to the Food Bank to help them provide food for those in need in the Seattle area.

CHRISTMAS SHIP FESTIVAL

A ship-to-shore holiday celebration that has been a Northwest tradition since 1949. The Spirit of Seattle, the Official Christmas Ship™, is decorated with hundreds of shimmery white lights and sails to different Puget Sound waterfront communities – around 65 in all.

WILDLIGHTS

Seattle’s wildest holiday lights festival returns with sparkling lights, faux snowball fights, up close animal encounters, hot chocolate and family delights. Experience brand new wild and wonderful light displays that will be featured throughout the Woodland Park Zoo.
