Help Us Keep Homeless Youth Warm Again This Winter

We_veGotYouCovered

All of us at Windermere are very excited to be in the midst of the second season of our partnership with the Seattle Seahawks, and continuing our campaign to help #tacklehomelessness. For every home game tackle made by the Seahawks, the Windermere Foundation is donating $100 to YouthCare, a non-profit that provides critical services to homeless youth throughout the Puget Sound area.

As proud as we are of our #tacklehomelessness campaign and the money we’re raising, we know we can do more. That’s why we’re hosting another Windermere “We’ve Got You Covered” winter drive to benefit YouthCare. Each night in the greater Seattle area, nearly 1,000 young people are homeless. And with the winter months quickly approaching, YouthCare is in dire need of survival supplies to keep homeless youth warm and dry during the long, wet winter.

Here’s what we are collecting:

  • Warm socks
  • Hats
  • Scarves
  • Gloves/mittens

*New items only please

From October 16 through November 10, you can drop off donations to participating Windermere offices in King and Snohomish Counties**. Our friends at Gentle Giant Moving Company are generously donating their time and trucks to pick up all of the donations from our offices. Donations can also be dropped off directly to YouthCare, Monday through Friday from 9am-5pm, at 2500 NE 54th St, Seattle, WA 98105.

We hope you will consider making a donation to our “We’ve Got You Covered” winter drive. Feel free to contact your Windermere agent or local office for more information, or email justask@windermere.com.

4th Annual Windermere Foundation Golf Tournament

It was a beautiful day on the golf course Monday, September 25 at Sand Point Country Club where 170 golfers came together to celebrate, network, and raise funds for Mary’s Place. The 4th Annual Windermere Foundation golf tournament was a great success; collecting nearly $20,000 that will be donated to Mary’s Place via the Windermere Foundation.

Mary’s Place was established in 1999 as day center for homeless women. Today, using their system of efficiently and effectively converting unused buildings into temporary emergency family shelter, Mary’s Place has 7-night shelters available for moms and dads with children that provide a warm bed, two meals, and a community of support for a total of 680 family members each night.

For the past 28 years, the Windermere Foundation has supported low-income and homeless families. What started in 1989 as a grassroots foundation serving families in need in Washington State, has grown to encompass eleven states and has raised over $33 million for organizations that provide shelter, food, children’s programs, and emergency assistance.

A huge thank you goes out to the sponsors and volunteers who helped make it an exciting and successful event.

Windermere and the Seahawks are Back for Another Season to #TackleHomelessness!

All of us at Windermere are very excited to kick off our second season as the Official Real Estate Company of the Seattle Seahawks!

Once again, our #tacklehomelessness campaign is front-and-center, with the Windermere Foundation donating $100 for every Seahawks home-game tackle during the 2017 season to YouthCare, a Seattle-based non-profit organization that has been providing services and support to homeless youth for more than 40 years. Last year, the Seahawks helped us raise $35,000 through our #tacklehomelessness campaign, and this year we are looking forward to raising even more money – and awareness – for this important cause.

Our partnership with the Seahawks and YouthCare fits perfectly with the mission of the Windermere Foundation which is to support low-income and homeless families in the communities where we have offices. Through the #tacklehomelessness campaign, we hope to be able to do even more.

A “score card” will be posted after each home game that shows how much was raised during that game. You can follow our progress throughout the Seahawks season on our Facebook page at Facebook.com/WindermereRealEstate.

Dine Well – Done Good!

Pictured Above: Laura Smith and Michele Flinn of Windermere Real Estate Co. presenting a check to Lindsay Carlisle, Victoria Austin and the staff at Seattle Food Lifeline, on behalf of the Windermere Foundation.

Last June, Windermere Real Estate Co. teamed up with neighboring restaurants to Dine Well – Do Good.  Each Monday night in the month of June, Windermere Real Estate Co. matched tips made to servers – up to $3,000 per night – to raise money for Food Lifeline, via the Windermere Foundation.

Thanks to the generosity of Windermere agents, diners, and the participating restaurants, the Windermere Foundation collected $12,000 in donations. According to Lindsay Carlisle, Community Engagement Officer for Food Lifeline, $12,000 can provide approximately 48,000 meals to our hungry neighbors.

Food Lifeline is the food bank to food banks. They rescue millions of pounds of surplus food from farmers, manufacturers, grocery stores, and restaurants; then deliver this healthy and nutritious food to nearly 300 food banks, shelters, and meal programs across Western Washington. Through their own ingenuity and clever practices, a single $1 donation can provide the equivalent of four complete meals.

Please join us in continuing support to our local restaurant businesses who helped make this idea a reality. Browse through the following list of participating restaurants and stay tuned for the next edition of Dine Well – Do Good!

Windermere Welcomes China to 31st Windermere Cup This Saturday

For the past 31 years, Windermere Real Estate and the University of Washington have joined together to host the annual Windermere Cup rowing regatta, which brings the world’s best crews to Seattle to compete against the nationally acclaimed UW men’s and women’s teams. Held annually on the first Saturday in May, the Windermere Cup is both an international sporting event and opening day party, followed by the world’s largest boat parade.

This year’s event will see the Huskies take on the Shanghai men’s and women’s High-Performance Rowing teams from China on Saturday, May 6. This matchup will mark the third time that a team from China has travelled to Seattle to compete in the Windermere Cup. Their first appearance came 27 years ago when the People’s Republic of China took home the Windermere Cup ahead of Navy, Washington, and Cambridge. Twelve years later the Chinese men’s rowing team returned for the 2002 Windermere Cup.

In addition to the crew races, the family-friendly Windermere Cup event also includes food vendors, booths to purchase UW and Windermere Cup apparel and commemorative gear, as well as a bouncy house for the kids.

Windermere Cup App:

The crew races start at 10am and end around noon. Following the final Windermere Cup race is the Seattle Yacht Club’s Opening Day Boat Parade. Download the Windermere Cup App to access schedule and team information, and for live race results: https://event.crowdcompass.com/windermerecup17

Windermere Cut Cinco de Mayo Party:

A new addition to this year’s event is the Windermere Cut Cinco de Mayo party down along the north shore of the Montlake Cut. Twenty dollars gets you into the beer/margarita garden where you can listen to Spike and the Impalers while munching on food from one of three Mexican food trucks. For more information and to buy tickets go to Brown Paper Tickets.

Windermere Cup Book:

This book is about the athletes, colorful characters, and brilliant people the Windermere Cup rowing regatta has featured every first Saturday in May since 1987. Through interviews, original documents and pages upon pages of breathtaking photographs, author Gregg Bell captures this event’s more than 30 remarkable years, its spirit and its soul.

The Windermere Cup is a touchstone for our company, our family of offices and agents, and the University of Washington. Not only is this an international sporting event, it’s a celebration of camaraderie, teamwork, and community – and truly great tradition that we are honored to be a part of.

Windermere Foundation By the Numbers

For the past 28 years, the Windermere Foundation has been helping those in need in our communities through donations to local organizations that provide services to low-income and homeless families. In 2016, the Windermere Foundation raised over $2.2 million in donations, bringing the total to over $33 million raised since it started in 1989.

Last year, 35 percent of the donations to the Windermere Foundation came from agent commissions. That’s because every time you use a Windermere agent to buy or sell a home, they make a donation to the Windermere Foundation. The other 65 percent came from additional donations made by Windermere agents, employees and the community. Because of these donations, the Windermere Foundation was able to fulfill 664 grants and help 410 organizations that provide help to those in need.

And every dollar donated is put to good use! As you can see from the infographic below, even small donations make a big impact and help us fund things like food bank meals, school supplies for underprivileged students, and resources for children in crisis.

Windermere Donates $35,000 To Help #TackleHomelessness

The regular football season is officially over, and while the Seahawks didn’t make it to the Super Bowl this year, they did take home the title of NFC West champs. We can think of a number of reasons to be proud of the Seahawks, but the biggest one for us is the $35,000 they helped us raise to #tacklehomelessness.

As the Official Real Estate Company of the Seattle Seahawks, Windermere and the Seahawks decided to partner on a cause that is important to our community. The result was our #tacklehomelessness campaign which saw Windermere donating $100 for every Seahawks home game tackle during the 2016 season. An additional donation was made in honor of Bobby Wagner, the NFL leader in tackles this season, for each of his 167 tackles. All of these tackles added up to an impressive $35,000.

The recipient of the $35,000 donation is YouthCare, a non-profit organization that provides essential services to homeless youth. The money raised will help fund YouthCare’s Residential Care Programs, which provide both housing and tailored support services to youth transitioning from homelessness to stability and independence.

Our partnership with the Seahawks and YouthCare fits perfectly with the mission of the Windermere Foundation, which is to support low-income and homeless families in the communities where we have offices. We are grateful for the opportunity to provide additional support to homeless youth in our area thanks to the Seahawks, YouthCare and the #tacklehomelessness campaign.

See you next season and GO HAWKS!

Windermere Foundation Announces New Total for #Tacklehomelessness Campaign

Earlier this year, Windermere and the Seattle Seahawks announced that we were joining together to help #tacklehomelessness. For every home game tackle made by the Seahawks, the Windermere Foundation is donating $100 to YouthCare, a non-profit that provides support and services to homeless youth throughout the Puget Sound area. During yesterday’s game we raised an additional $4,300 for a total of $12,500 so far this season. We’re proud to cheer on our home team and make a different while doing it! #GoHawks #GiveBack #MNF #WindermereBlue

StagerPalooza is back to help #TackleHomelessness!

Once a year, the talented people at Staging & Design Network have a two day sale of their staging inventory, to make room for new trends, styles and colors. This is a fantastic opportunity to buy furniture and décor that was hand-picked by an interior designer and then sold at a fraction of the retail price.

This year, they have added a new element to help support the Windermere Foundation in association with the Seattle Seahawks to #tacklehomelessness and support YouthCare. For every item on YouthCare’s Wish List that you bring into the sale, you will win a chance at a fun door prize!
